Mr. Heckmann’s father was a Lutheran schoolteacher, so his father’s Calls took the family from Barre Mills, WI, to Collins, WI, before the family escaped to the sunshine and fresh air of Willow Creek, Minnesota. His father accepted a call to Dr. Martin Luther College (a predecessor of Martin Luther College). After attending Martin Luther College for two years, Mr. Heckmann finished his undergraduate degree and M.S. in Education-English at Minnesota State University. He has also taken credits at UW-Milwaukee, Carthage College, and UW-Parkside.
Mr. Heckmann has been in the ministry since 1971 and at Shoreland
since 1981. He served previously at Trinity in Nicollet, MN, and Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. Currently Mr. Heckmann’s primary duties entail teaching English and coaching the girls’ varsity basketball team.
Outside of school, Mr. Heckmann has been blessed with a patient and faithful wife, Christine. Together they have raised a family of four Shoreland grads: Matt (’91), Sarah (’92), Aaron (‘95), and Liesl (’97). When school does not interfere, Mr. Heckmann pursues traveling, reading, writing, tennis, studying the investment world, and playing with
grandchildren. |
